I couldn't believe it when Harlow chased and played with my 3-year old grandson today. Harlow picked up the toy and brought it back to him and together they flew through our warehouse (where she is residing until adopted) bounding like young gazelles. My grandson was shreeking and laughing and Harlow was enjoying the attention. She would hide in a box and leap out at him - they both LOVED playing together.
Mind you, my grandson has been brought up to be gentle and while he is rambunctious he does listen to his parents (and grandma) when it comes to playing with animals. In a situation with an unsupervised child who might be rough or more physical with Harlow, she can play-bite which would not be OK. She will ONLY do this if over-stimulated with petting or if she is pestered to the point of no-return. Her warning sign, very noticable, is a twitching tail. She is a gentle and fun cat but she is not a background cat. She wants to be out there where the action is and in your face asking for play time. She will sleep by you and sit by you but is not a lap cat and she isn't big on being carried around. Toys, playing, quiet time are all great but a family that adopts her will need to have parents that are involved and thrilled to have a super-cat - a playful friend and companion that will grow up with their child.
