Great Cats for Great Homes

Duchess is a beautiful, 1.5-year-old Siamese mic indoor cat with a gentle heart and affectionate nature. She absolutely loves cozy naps by the window, curling up in soft blankets, and chasing her feather wand across the living room. She’s an incredibly sweet companion who bonds deeply with the people she trusts. When she feels safe, she’s cuddly, playful, and content to simply be near you.

We found Duchess as a stray and have been fostering her for over a year. Despite doing everything we could to find her original family, no one came forward. She’s been such a joy in our lives, and we’ve done our best to give her a stable, caring home. She currently lives with a dog, and while they coexist peacefully now, it took a lot of time and patience to get there. She was initially very anxious and scared around him. Because of that, we’re not sure how she’d do in a new home with a dog—it would depend entirely on the dog’s temperament and the adopter’s experience with slow introductions.  We think she’d likely do best in a home without other animals, but we’re open to discussing the right situation.

Duchess recently had a UTI and her physical symptoms have improved a lot but she developed some litter box aversion during the illness.   We believe it’s tied to stress and the painful association she made with the box while she was sick.   She’s not acting out—she’s just anxious and needs a stable, peaceful space to reset and feel safe again.  With a growing family and a noisy, busy household, we’re no longer able to give her the calm environment she needs to heal fully and get back on track.  Duchess is a deeply lovable, sensitive soul who just needs someone to give her a real chance.

Duchess needs a home with:

• No other pets (unless the adopter is very experienced)

• Indoor-only setup—she must stay inside

• A quiet, calm environment • An experienced, patient cat owner who understands behavioral issues and is willing to support her through recovery

It’s incredibly hard for us to let her go, but we believe the right person can help her feel safe and happy again.  Duchess is indoor only and lives in Salem with her family.  Her rehoming fee is $75
