(Pronounced Co-Paul). Copal is truly a dream cat. He’s 1 year old, and I’ve had him since he was 8 weeks. He’s so playful, so silly, such a floppy noodle, loves belly rubs, will play fetch with you and run around the house with you like a puppy, jumping at you from around the corner. He leaves me laughing out loud constantly. Loves being held and cuddled. He doesn’t use his claws when he plays, and generally limits his scratching to his designated scratching post but responds well to the spray bottle if he’s scratching something forbidden like the sofa.

He is a big, big lover and truly the sweetest most perfect cat I’ve ever known. He’s not moody at all, and won’t switch up on you if you touch him in the wrong way. Everyone who meets him falls completely head over heels for him. I’ve traveled back and forth between Bend and Portland with him many times, and he does fine in the car. He meows for the first 30 minutes or so, but then falls asleep in my lap for the duration. He knows to use the litter box in the car. He has a bubble backpack that he loves to take walks outside with. He crawls in it on his own and wraps his tail around himself and waits to have it zipped up. So cute.

He’s never met another cat, but has done well with smaller dogs who are low-ish energy and will eventually warm up to play with them. High energy dogs definitely scare him. He was attacked by a young, insane Rottweiler and I think that ruined things a bit in terms of his openness to dogs. But he has interacted fine with low-energy dogs since and would warm up to the right dog. Great with kids. I think he would do exceedingly well with a kitten or another very friendly and playful cat. He is SO playful!!

Copal is on a wet food diet. Please watch Jackson Galaxy’s YouTube videos about cat food. Dry food is very unhealthy for cats and causes major disruption to their systems. The high adoption fee is a reflection of his perfection and my desire for him to end up in a home that is very serious about him and keeping him around forever. He very much deserves that and it crushes me that it won’t be with me. When I say that Copal is everything I’ve ever hoped for in a cat, I mean that fully. I’m heartbroken to be letting him go, but I have an unexpected opportunity to spend the next few years traveling and can’t take him with me.

Health history: neutered but unvaccinated. I chose not to vaccinate him since he’s strictly an indoor-only kitty and the only pet in the house. When he was 5 months old, Copal took a pretty bad fall from a second story balcony and ended up with a collapsed lung and some tiny broken bones in his face. After a trip to Dove Lewis and heart wrenching week of not knowing how things would end up, he is completely healed.

His ideal home is with: - Someone who can be home with him every day - Someone with a good amount of indoor space for him to stretch his legs and wander - Someone ready for a young cat who still gets the zoomies and gets very curious. He needs to be stimulated. - Someone who will regularly play with him - Someone who will not let him outside (he’s too precious to risk never coming back!) Copal's adoption fee is $300 and he lives with his person in Bend, OR
