Lichen looks like a little lion with his fluffy mane and wise eyes! He can be a little shy at first, but once he warms up to you he is a sweet, cuddly boy. He is a bit of a climber and a curious, playful cat who especially enjoys toys he can bat with his paws, especially with jingly sounds or crinkly textures. Once he’s done playing,
Lichen enjoys some petting and lap cuddling, and he doesn’t mind being picked up and handled at all. He especially likes his felt mouse and similar small toys that he can carry around in his mouth. Lichen has always lived with other cats and gets along well with them. He has also lived with older children and adults and enjoys human company. Lichen may be able to get accustomed to younger children, but he has never lived with them before and would need to meet any children before going home with them. He has not been exposed to dogs.
Lichen can sometimes startle at loud noises or sudden movements, but recovers quickly. A home with plenty of places to hide away may be best for when things get busy. Though he is not especially needy, a home that could devote the energy into bringing him out of his shell, possibly with friendly resident cats, would be best. While he doesn’t need a super quiet home, a home that is extremely busy may also be difficult for him to adjust to.
Lichen was rescued from a feral cat colony. Despite this rough start in life, he is now a friendly and social young cat. We don't know his exact age, but he was probably around 8 weeks when we rescued him, two months ago. He has been neutered, and received initial veterinary care: examination, rabies vaccine, first FVCRP vaccine (he needs a booster in late November), deworming, and flea and mite treatment. He has tested negative for FIV, FeLV, and heartworm. Lichen is indoor only and his rehoming fee is $50. Lichen lives with his foster family in Sandy.
