Garfield is a 2 year old, 12 pound handsome orange tabby male cat who is seeking his furever, loving home. He was found as an outside stray 6 months ago and has been fed and loved by his caretaker (me) daily. More recently, he has been kept indoors since his neuter, vaccines and flea treatment, and vetted for an abcess on his cheek from a fight that he got into outside before his neuter, which is healing nicely. This shy boy takes a bit of time to come out of his shell, but once he earns your trust his purr motor is non-stop and he will gladly accept all of the pets and love that you have to offer him! You can win his heart with treats or chicken which he will take gently from you, or any kind of yummy wet food which he prefers over dry. He is litter box trained and uses his cardboard scratcher. Garfield got along with my cat, another stray that I adopted, when they were both outside. However, I do not know for sure how he will do with new cats or pets in a household as I am not allowed additional pets where I rent so I have been keeping them separated while he is recovering from his neuter. I think he may do best spoiled as your only pet, and needs a calm, quiet low-key environment. He tested FIV positive, which can be managed and is the biggest reason I’d like to find him an indoor only home, aside from the dangers that any cat faces that is allowed to roam outdoors. Garfield could live with a dog or an FIV negative cat or any other cat as long as they got along well and don’t fight. He appears to be a healthy boy, and tested negative for FeLV. I would like to see him find a loving home where he will be spoiled and cherished as the ginger Prince that he is. I am fostering him now in a 36” crate and not allowed other pets by my landlord. So while I will continue caring for him a bit longer, this is not an ideal long-term situation. I am seeking a rescue/foster with more space, or the loving forever home that he deserves, free from any outside dangers and stress. Location: Salem, OR but willing to rehome within reasonable distance of the I-5 corridor (Eugene to Portland metro) Indoor only home.  $80 rehoming fee.
