Great Cats for Great Homes

Benji’s got a reputation for being a shy guy. He can be very skittish at first and may go hide out in a closet or under the bed, but after all the action settles down and he warms up, he’ll surprise you with what an amazing snuggler he is. He’s a total fiend for pets. He’ll roll around, head-butt your hand, send up the elevator butt. He can’t get enough and there’s no bad place to pet him!

 

Benji loves splashing around in his water dish and does this cute thing where he lays down and dips his paw in the bowl. He’s a moderate-energy adult kitty who loves batting a mouse toy or ball around the house and playing catch with ribbon toy. Benji feels safest being an indoor-only cat. Because of his scaredy-cat nature, he’s prone to disappearing/hiding if he goes outside. He bonds well with people once he warms up and does not have a feisty bone is his body. The best way to get him to come out is cozy up to read a book or watch a movie. When things settle down and he feels safe he’ll approach you.

 

Currently Benji lives with another cat and a dog. He adjusts well to other pets with a gradual introduction process (introducing them to each other's smells, then spaces, then to each other directly). Benji would probably love to cuddle with other pets. He always wants to get closer to our other cat and dog, but sadly they don’t want to cuddle with him. He has not been around young children, but I would suspect that he would not be the best fit for a home with small kids as he tends to bolt when there’s a lot of action. He has been fine around older children.

 

Something to be aware of with Benji is he’s a plant muncher. Keeping toxic plants (and any plants you don’t want teeth marks on) out of reach is important with him around. We’re looking for a new home for Benji (and her friend, Beedy) because my partner suffers from severe cat allergies. We’ve tried many medical interventions and cleaning protocols, but nothing has been effective to provide him enough relief. The ideal homes would be ones where they are enthusiastically welcomed and loved. They don't need to go to the same home. Although they get along fine, they are not bonded. Adoption fee is $40 or $60 for the pair.
