Great Cats for Great Homes

  Eve is a loving 10 year-old totally blind cat. She is a very sweet older girl who moves very slowly and takes time to learn her surroundings but, once she has learned her space, can easily find her food, litter box, etc. Since she is blind she can be easily scared by loud noises, active kids, other pets, etc. She would probably do best in a quiet home with no other animals, or with animals that will leave her alone. She is cuddly and spends a lot of time sleeping, usually preferring to have one or two cozy spots that are hers. A smaller home may be a great fit for her, so she can easily learn the location of rooms, stairs, furniture, etc. We have a busy house with 3 kids and a younger cat and dog, and Eve needs a quieter home where she isn't surprised by other pets. Our two other pets like to come play with her, and she gets a little freaked out by them. She does best with very calm petting. Eve has a couple of health issues, some of which are related to her anxiety/issues with sharing her home with other pets. She has begun to aggressively over-groom herself and pull out her hair. We think this is partly related to her unease around the other pets in her house. Our vet thinks this is broadly reflecting her anxiety as well as potentially some allergy issues. She was also recently diagnosed with diabetes, but is not currently prescribed insulin. We give her diabetic food and that seems to be just fine. However, due to the diabetes diagnosis, we cannot give her steroid shots that could help with her skin/hair-pulling. So she is now pulling out large amounts of hair. We think if she felt more comfortable she would not be pulling her hair out at all. She is fixed, up to date on shots, and has had regular vet check-ups. She needs a larger litter box that is easy to find and access, as she is a little overweight and she cannot jump very high. She is indoors-only. We would love to find a good home for her to live out the rest of her quiet life. We can re-home her with a litter box, a cat bed she has liked, and a few other things
