From the tufted tips of her ears to her long luxurious tail, Noel is one beautiful and sweet-natured kitty. Her first family didn’t realize, however, that Noel – like all sensitive creatures – could become easily over-stimulated. As a result of chronic mishandling, she became very fearful of
anyone being near her and she couldn’t relax. With patience and restraint, her fosters have
helped her in her quest to reclaim her happy cat nature.
Today, Noel loves to play and to be petted (slowly and briefly), and she is softly purring more
and more. She especially loves peacock feathers, rolling toys, and laser dots—anything she can
stalk, chase, jump and dance with. She’s an expert at twirling in mid-air! She also loves watching
the birds and squirrels from a window, but is content to remain inside.
At this point in her healing, Noel is not a lap cat or a snuggler—maybe that will come in time.
We don’t push it. When she is ready for some affection, Noel will gently head-bump your hand;
this means it’s ok to stroke her head, and maybe a little more of her. To hear her purrs is
reassurance that slowly but surely she is rediscovering the joy of human companionship.
Still, it is crucial that we observe and respect her very clear boundaries. She needs to feel that she
is safe at all times, and that her trust process isn’t being rushed. While she now enjoys relaxing
on sofas, rugs, windowsills, beds, etc. she is still skittish with sudden movement or sound. A
quiet home with gentle humans moving-about will suit her well. This particular kitty should not
be in a home with children, or with adult males (men are her deepest fear). We do not think she
would fare well with dogs, but perhaps a mellow cat would help her acclimate.
Noel may require a little extra work on your part, but you will be rewarded for your efforts with
the joy of having a sweet, loving, athletic and happy companion to share your home.
