  Maíz is a gentle, timid, loyal, playful 12 year old sweetheart who is looking to warm the bed of a household looking to spoil her. She is affectionately called our "fluffy lioness" due to her soft, prominent mane around her face. She is very timid and shy and can take time to warm up in a new environment. Once she knows she is safe and loved, you will have an affectionate, silly, cuddly best friend. She comes running her she hears her human cry or feel upset, sleeps curled up as close as she can at night, loves to play with toys, and is truly the most loving cat. It was my hope to keep her and let her live out her days in my lap but my health had other plans. We are deeply saddened to have to rehome her due to a cancer diagnosis and housing crisis brought on by COVID-19. I am hoping to find her a compassionate, tender home to thrive in. Maíz would be the perfect addition to a low-traffic home where owners are looking for a companion and will be home frequently to bond with her. While she has done well living with a quiet toddler, she would do best in a home with older or no children. She is submissive and non-aggressive but becomes nervous around excessive noise. She has peacefully lived with another cat without issue from her, she personally prefers to be alone or with her human but doesn't seem to mind another cat. I simply cannot think of one negative behavior she has, she has been a joy to have in our home and I hope you will find she is exactly what you're missing in yours.
