Offered by Owner - MOSBY Young FIV+ Male needs a caretaker or foster! Won't you consider helping him get a new start? Please Note: This animal is listed as a courtesy to another organization. Please be sure to contact the foster/caretaker for more information about him.
Mosby, a young male about 1 to 2 years old came to us, a stray, scared and crying at the foot of our stairs last month. He seems to have recently spent time on the run, maybe from other animals, like coyotes or feral cats. Once we brought him inside he was purring, giving us forehead bumps, and rolling over wanting his belly rubbed, (he LOVES having his belly rubbed!). He loves to play but he’s not too rambunctious, he’ll stop to snuggle and ask to have his cheeks rubbed at any given time. When we found him he was underweight and he had an open wound on his right arm. We got him to the veterinary office and his wound was stitched up and he also got all of his vaccinations and was chipped and neutered. He has since had the stitches taken out of his arm and the wound is healing beautifully! He’s been eating up a storm and putting some weight back on in the right places. He is litter box trained. Mosby is patiently waiting for a nice, cat savvy family to come and scoop him up! He likes to follow you around and listen to you talk. He wants someone who loves being loved.
We would love to keep Mosby but we are at our maximum number of pets in our apartment. We've been keeping him separated from our other animals, only allowing them to smell each other under closed doors or look at each other for supervised times with a screen between them. He and our youngest cat, Libby, touched noses through the screen. That's about all we know as far as how he will interact with other animals. We are unsure of how Mosby interacts with children, but so far he hasn't met a human he doesn't like, including the whole veterinary staff. Mosby will need to be an indoor only cat, he did test positive for FIV, but he is FeLV negative. He can live a full and healthy life as long as he stays indoors in a safe, happy home with healthy food, water, exercise and lots of love.
